Please follow the link to the Lakeland Businesswomens Network for up to date information.

Lakeland Businesswomen’s Network (LBN) is a networking group for women in business in south Cumbria.

Set up in January 2006, the group is run by the members for the members.

The membership fee is £40 per year paid in quarterly instalments of £10. Non members are welcome to attend any of our meetings for just £5. We have 60 paid-up members and well over 120 interested parties on our regular emailing list.

We meet monthly, on the third Thursday of every month, alternating between morning and evening speaker and networking meetings, in a variety of venues across the area to make sure the widest pool of members can come along. At every meeting members get a chance to air success stories, business problems, advertise events and network. We also hold subsidised training days on business topics such as presentational skills, marketing and finance.

Next Meeting

Date: 22 May2014
Time: 10am-12noon
Venue: Leighton Moss, Silverdale

Theme: Nature in the local economy

This extra meeting in May takes us to glorious Leighton Moss in Silverdale to discover how nature contributes to the local economy.
Jenny Wain, Futurescapes Senior Officer, RSPB, will talk about the value that nature brings to our local economy, and to us when we make time to stop, look and listen when we are getting out and about around Morecambe Bay.  She will show how working with other environmental bodies and local businesses we are beginning to put Morecambe Bay on the map with an ambition to make it one of the UK’s top 10 nature tourism destinations. Marketing Officer, Annabel Rushton, will introduce us to the wonders of the RSPB Leighton Moss reserve and guide us on a tour of a place rich in nature. She’ll show us some of the reserve’s highlights and demonstrate how this special place can not only provide a place to relax and enjoy being outdoors with family and friends, but can also be a place to think. Could this be a place to help you develop your next big business idea?

The meeting is FREE for members and guests (£5 charge for refreshments), too, so please join us

Date: 22 June 2014
Time: 7pm - 9pm
Venue: Westmorland Hotel, Tebay

Theme: Couples in business

June's meeting combines a fabulously interesting speaker with a county-wide networking opportunity. We're gathering a little further north for this one - at the Westmorland Hotel - because we're joining forces with Eden Ladies and Cumbrian Women in Enterprise to create an exciting networking event.

Angela Carradus has recently completed a PhD, researching how relationally linked co-entrepreneurs manage their working and home lives, and how this impacts on perceived success. She'll talk to us about the results of her research - which should be particularly interesting for those of us who work with spouses or family members.

The meeting is FREE for members and guests (£5 charge for refreshments for guests). Please do join us.
