The Wedding Barn - Tina Strong
Tina started her first business selling lingerie in her early twenties. After selling this business, she continued to work in retail management before taking a break to have children. But it wasn't long before she became restless and started to look around for something else to do, and came up with the idea of the wedding car business. "I wanted to go back to being me, and that's why I started up really. A bit of boredom, and a bit of wanting to get my own identity back."

Tina and her husband moved to their current farm near Penrith in 2000, and were shortly afterwards hit with FMD. They decided to restock, but Tina also felt it was important to diversify. Having been involved with numerous weddings through the wedding cars, Tina realised the difficulties women faced in co-ordinating everything and matching colours, and the idea of a 'one-stop' wedding shop was born. 'Put your money where your mouth is - if you think you can do something better, then do it!'

With help from DEFRA's Rural Enterprise Scheme, Tina had the barn converted into a beautiful shop where brides are able to relax with a glass of wine while the Wedding Barn staff do all the hard work. The Wedding Barn has been a huge success since it opened, and Tina already has plans for further expansion.
